MedLink Redundant Database System

Comp Pro Med's unique MedLink system allows one Laboratory computer to share information with other Laboratory computers, each computer maintaining its own real-time database – Polytech's unique Distributed Redundant Database. This arrangement has several advantages over a client-server system. First, your data is safe, since there are multiple copies of it. Second, a computer failure only disables that computer, not the entire system. Third, when a failed computer is repaired, the MedLink system will automatically bring it back up to date without operator intervention. Fourth, the network bandwidth required is extremely small, so your system can grow without slowing down. Fifth, your data is secure because all transactions are made utilizing hard encryption technology.

Zero System Downtime means all of the data you need, available all of the time. Polytech incorporates a Redundant Distributed Database topology that is more reliable than a central file server. This exclusive technology is called MedLink and enables Polytech to manage and retain copies of the entire laboratory database on each workstation. This eliminates the fear of catastrophic data loss or downtime. In fact, the more computers in the Polytech system, the more resistant to downtime the system becomes. An additional benefit of Medlink is that the system does not need to be brought down for routine system backup or maintenance. MedLink also simplifies the network wiring scheme by eliminating redundant links to a network server. Entire rooms dedicated to housing these servers and wiring equipment can be freed up for other purposes. MedLink is essentially managed by the laboratory, which eliminates the need of costly system administration and maintenance.
