Overview
Redington-Fairview General Hospital (RFGH) is an independent, 25 bed, critical access hospital located in Skowhegan, Maine. RFGH provides health care to the more than 30,000 residents of Somerset County in central Maine. The hospital has been using Polytech since 1997 and the system has grown with the hospital lab’s needs.
Personalized LIS Provides Bang for the Buck
Ryan Greenwood is RFGH’s LIS Coordinator and has worked with Polytech since his arrival in 1998. Polytech has been customized to fit his workflow and delivers day in and day out. “Over the years we might have considered other systems, but I don’t think any other LIS can get close to the bang for the buck we have realized with Polytech,” Ryan says.
Comp Pro Med is a pioneer in the LIS industry having started developing the LIS in the early 1980s with the advent of personal computers. Since then, the company has focused on providing customers with excellent service. Ryan explains, “We get a high level of personalization with Comp Pro Med, and I can talk to the programmer that knows exactly how the program works. I’m not calling a help center that has no idea how to help, or an email where they put in a help ticket. I get to talk to the person who gets things done.”
Polytech LIS Stays Current with RFGH Needs
RFGH relies on the Polytech LIS to keep up-to-date with new features they can implement. When a new feature comes out or when they need to change an existing feature to meet the need of the lab, Ryan finds the easiest solution is to just call Comp Pro Med. “They have a very quick turnaround.” Ryan explains, “There are a lot of times I will call Comp Pro Med and say, I need this interface to do this. And a lot of times they do it right then or there or as soon as I get off the phone. The turnaround is excellent.”
LIS Built for Labs by Lab People
RFGH has developed a partnership with Comp Pro Med over the years. Ryan appreciates how Polytech is built with the knowledge of how labs actually run. “It is a lab product used by lab people.” Ryan says. “They actually listen to the customers and make sure it is usable. Not just something that is deployed to the customer and say, here make this work.”
